Excellently staged and you may smartly dialogued, it will have zero great difficulties in lifestyle down their extremely unappealing label.” [ 8 ]

The fresh new film’s author and manager, Robert Rossen, creates good multidimensional chess video game, having mortal limits, anywhere between Johnny, his workplace (Thomas Gomez), their boss’s partner (Ellen Received), an excellent cagey police inspector (Lee J. Cobb), and you can an effective scuffling actress (Evelyn Keyes) whoever sibling (Nina Foch) did at the casino and dated a good corrupt investigator (Jim Bannon).
